Hayes Electronics is a locally and Veteran owned 'Mom and Pop' business centrally located in the great state of Tennessee. With a 2000 square foot repair shop fully stocked with the latest, most modern electronic test equipment, tools, thousands of electronic components and other necessary parts, they can meet all of your consumer electronics repair needs.
The owners, John and Lisa Halstead, have been in business in Sparta, Tennessee since 2008, but John's roots in electronics go all the way back to his childhood. His Grandfather designed missile launch systems for aircraft carriers for the Department of the Navy and repaired televisions and radios in his spare time as a hobby. Being the oldest grandchild, John was initiated in to electronics at an early age.
He kept the interest alive all the way through school where he was a go-to guy for car stereo installations and tinkering with VCR's. John joined the U.S. Army in 1984 and went to the U.S. Army Signal School at Ft. Gordon, training in receiver transmitter repair. After he was honorably discharged, he continued in electronics, landing a job repairing TV's and stereo equipment in Algood, TN. From there, he moved to Roanoke, VA to work for a larger repair service company. John worked in Virginia until 2008, when he decided to move back home to Sparta, TN and start his own repair service company.
He has been officially been in the electronics repair industry since 1984 and specializing in consumer electronics repair since 1991, repairing TV's, VCR's, DVD players, cassette decks, receivers,... you name it, he has fixed it. Seems he's in the small percentage of people who love what they do for a living. His passion, however, is repairing and restoring vintage analog home audio equipment.
He hopes to continue in his field of expertise for many years to come. John's wonderful wife, Lisa, runs the office at Hayes Electronics. She takes care of the phones, helps walk-in customers, does all of the bookwork and so, so many more things. She is the linchpin of the whole operation. Her biggest task is keeping John in line and on track, but she will deny that. John says he could not do what he does without her, and I believe that to be true.
We specialize in the repair and restoration of 1970's and 1980's vintage and classic analog home audio equipment of ALL BRANDS! We do everything from minor repairs to full restorations.
